Web 2.0 websites to visit that are two of my favorites.
1. Tikatok - http://www.tikatok.com/ This is a website for children to write, illustrate, and publish a real book. You can order as many copies as you want. The children can upload their own pictures and drawings to be used in the books.
The books are hardcover or softcover. What great fun this can be.
2. TwistyNoodle - http://www.twistynoodle.com/ - This is a website full of coloring pages and handwriting practice worksheets. You can customize and print your very own sheets. The children love creating their own work.

Week 4
Examples of multimedia I like to use in my classroom.
I enjoy reading stories to the class and then taking interactive books to use in the listening station. Interactive books are great because the students can follow along at their own paces. Students can listen to a word as many times as they want if they are unsure because the computer repeats it for them. Students need to read books and also hear them too.
Google maps is a lot of fun for the primary kids. Children love looking for where they live and where different places are.
Multimedia is so fascinating. Keep trying different things and experiencing computers.

Week 2
Three issues shaping the role of technology in education today are privacy and safety, viruses and hacking, and the role of distance education. Privacy and safety, as many students now are going online and spending a tremendous a lot of time on the internet, we as parents can't be too cautious. Children need to be extremely cautious what they say and be sure of who they are talking to online. Parents need to pay attention to their children because of online predators such as with facebook.
Viruses and hacking is very common. If your computer becomes infected this can cause major problems for someone. Hackers try to get in and get your information. Make sure you have firewalls, virus protected software, and spyware on your computers to prevent such things happening. Distance education can be great if you do not live near a college and you can very flexible hours.
There are several things that have been helpful with the technology in today's world. Wireless internet has been a major accomplishment in today's world. People and students can take laptops everywhere they go. Cell phones have come a long way. You are easily able to be contacted. Everyone from the youngest to the oldest have cell phones. Most phones you have internet connection. Promenthem Boards in the classrooms, wow these are awesome and the children love them. Whatever you have on your computer you can have right up on the whiteboard. Technolgy has come so far and who really knows what the future holds.

Introduction
I am Rhonda Gates and I live in Gulf Shores, AL and I have lived in Gulf Shores for five years. I am taking online classes to renew my teaching certificate and get a masters degree in Library Media. I am presently work as office manager for a construction company. I would love to get back to teaching, I have missed it so much. My favorite thing about the technology class has been the social bookmarking assignment. I did not think that could be so much fun and so easy also. I am presently taking to classes and this has been very trying at times because I have six children at home also. I will survive and have enjoyed taking the classes.
